Course Content
HRBP Master Class 1: Strategic Effectiveness
Runs from 9am – 12.30pm
HRBP Models, roles and responsibilities – In this first session you’ll learn the different HRBP models that have been developed, and when each may work best. You’ll also discover what all the different competency models have in common in terms of HR Business Partner skills, and what HRBP’s deliver within different structure. You’ll then discuss what model you work in, what’s in your role, and how you can overcome the challenges you face.
Building Business Acumen – HRBP’s who are commercially astute and understand financial’s can build more credibility with their business and add real value when working with senior leaders. In this part of the workshop you’ll develop some fundamental skllls in this area.
Developing Strategic Leadership skills – One of the differences from an HR Advisory role and an HR Business Partner role is the strategic component of your role – both in your own thinking and developing this in leaders. In this session we are working to develop your skills in the following:
- Problem solving and decision making. As an HRBP you’re dealing with more complex issues with hidden root causes. Learning how to get better at both thorough, systematic problem solving and quick, effective decision making is essential.
- Thinking strategically. What are the tools and techniques you can use to think long term, and help your leaders be more strategic in how they manage?
HRBP Master Class 2: Building Resilience
In the face to face workshop this runs 1.30pm to 5pm. In the virtual workshop this runs 9am – 12.30pm.
Building Resilience – In this section of the workshop you’ll cover tools and techniques to help you both develop your own resilience to deal with a VUCA world, but also to help grow this in your managers and your business.
With guest presenters Katrina Kidson (for our Wellington and Virtual workshops) and Maya Nova (for our Auckland workshop).
Engaging your managers – We now work through some practical tools and techniques, including sales and marketing principles that we believe every HR Business Partner should know, so they can use them to engage their managers and people leaders to be HR’s delivery arm. You’ll also get to discuss the challenges you face in this area and leave with new thinking and ideas on resolving these challenges.
Design Thinking Think Tank: We finish by taking you through how you can use Design Thinking principles to change how design and deliver your HR processes. You will be able to brainstorm issues that you are facing in your HRBP roles and then share ideas, tools and techniques. This is run as a unconference style session and generates some amazing discussions!
