Workshops just for your team!
Virtual half days or face to face
Our skill sessions are based on some of our most popular half day virtual workshops. You can also run these as face to face workshops over a half or full day.
The benefits:
- We run these internally – just for your team, so you get to discuss specific challenges your team faces, in a confidential and safe environment
- Content customised to your policies and procedures
- Far more cost effective than sending your team on public courses!
As always with Elephant we run outcome based learning so you will leave with ideas to use back at work. Some of the company who have run skill sessions:

Skills Sessions available
Skill Session 1:
Clever Communications
There’s a short pre-workshop video and questionnaire to complete.
Understanding your style: To get really clever with your comms, you need to know your style and others – to know how to adapt. This first part will help you see people in a whole new way! We get lots of a-ha’s as people understand why conflict and miscommunication happens, and what to do about it. And you’ll leave with some great ideas on how to make your communications get the message across to all the styles.
Dealing with difficult managers: We know they are out there and can cause headaches! In this section we deep dive into the different types of mangers and how to deal with each, as well as giving your new tools and techniques to deal with when you need to deal with challenges. How do you bring a rogue manager in line? How do you advise when you know it will be challenging? This part of the workshop will give you some great ways to deal with these challenges and more.
Skill Session 2:
Do more, with less
Managing Time without eight arms: This section focuses on how you can use your time well when you’ve always got too much to do and another deadline is approaching. We know many HR and talent teams are under resourced, so this session is about creating time so you can get onto some of the more proactive work. We cover new tools and techniques you can use, discuss push back and delegation and much more.
Problem Solving and Decision Making: Next we work through some different tools you can use to help you make quick and effective decisions in areas where you may not yet have built your experience.
Building Resilience: Lastly you’ll hear from our guest presenter Katrina Kidson or Maya Nova, on how to build resilience for yourself, your team and your managers to help work through a VUCA world!
Skill Session 3:
The Fundamentals of Change
Understanding types of change: In this first session we will discuss the different types of change that your team may need to deal with in your current or future roles, and the challenges that can happen with each so you can be well prepared.
Change models: Understanding the different change models that are out there that you can use to plan and implement change projects means you can select the best one for your change. You’ll cover the pros and cons of each and trying them out on a real case study.
Leading a change journey: In the last part of the workshop you’ll uncover, how to identify where people are in their change journey, tools to take people through the different stages of change and how to manage your own resilience as you manage issues.
Skill Session 4:
Being a Change Agent
In this half day you will build your skills in how to make change happen. This is an action-based learning workshop so you’ll try out tools, discuss case studies and run some practise sessions so you are fully prepared to lead change in your business or team. You’ll hone your skills in:
- Pitching change to your business – how to develop a business case and get it to the right people, in the right way, at the right time
- Utilising change champions to accelerate change engagement
- Crafting communications that hit home including storytelling, sales and marketing concepts, CX tools that will take your communications plans to the next level.
To finish the session – a chance to discuss ideas and put some actions down to help you succeed in making successful change in your organisation.
Skill Session 5:
Being high performance Business Partners
HRBP Models, roles and responsibilities – In this first session you’ll learn the different business partner models that have been developed, and when each may work best. You’ll also discover what all the different competency models have in common and what BP’s deliver within different structure. You’ll then discuss what model you work in, what’s in your role, and how you can overcome the challenges you face.
Building Business Acumen – BP’s who are commercially astute and understand financials can build more credibility with their business and add real value when working with senior leaders. In this part of the workshop you’ll develop some fundamental skills in this area.
Developing Strategic Leadership skills – How do you develop your skills in the strategic component of business partnering – both in your own thinking and developing this in leaders. In this session we are working to develop your skills in the following:
- Problem solving and decision making. As an BP you’re dealing with more complex issues with hidden root causes. Learning how to get better at both thorough, systematic problem solving and quick, effective decision making is essential.
- Thinking strategically. What are the tools and techniques you can use to think long term, and help your leaders be more strategic in how they manage?
Skill Session 6:
Transforming your team for the future
Transformational trends: We start by looking at what trends are happening in transformational companies. You’ll hear some inspiring and innovative ideas from around the world and discuss where your company is on the traditional to transformational scale, and where you want to be.
Design Thinking: We now take you through how the principles of Design Thinking work, and you’ll try these out to transform how you deliver your HR and talent processes. This session always generates some amazing discussions and you’ll hear about some exceptional examples of how design thinking changed everything.
Influencing and Engaging your managers: In the last part of the workshop, we focus on tools and techniques to use to influence and support your managers with new processes, and really engage them. You’ll learn clever ways to grab managers attention, get them to actually read your emails and to follow process. If you’ve ever been frustrated with managers not following directions – this session will give you new ideas to get them doing what they should. You’ll learn techniques from the worlds of CSX, marketing and sales that will change how you engage your managers forever.
